Job summary

Sol Plaatje University invites applications for the Director: Infrastructure Project Management Office. This leadership role ensures the university’s physical infrastructure supports its academic vision by overseeing large-scale design, construction and maintenance projects in a university setting.

You will develop strategy, manage budgets, ensure compliance with DHET standards, lead project teams, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver the 2026–2030 Infrastructure Development Plan.

Qualifications

• Honours (NQF8) in Built Environment or related discipline is required.
• Professional registration with SACAP, ECSA, SACQSP or SACPCMP is needed.
• Master’s degree (NQF9) in related field is recommended.
• PMP certification or equivalent is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Strategy development and execution to align with the University’s Spatial Development Framework and plan.
• Oversee all infrastructure projects from conception to completion per Infrastructure Delivery Management standards.
• Ensure procurement, variations, and quarterly progress reporting meet DHET norms and professional standards.
• Uphold quality assurance, risk management and audit compliance for the Office.
• Lead staffing, budgeting, performance management and organizational development for the Office.
• Engage stakeholders and coordinate with DHET and other statutory bodies for approvals.
