Job summary

Absa Bank Limited is seeking a senior Treasury professional to lead the strategic stewardship of the South African balance sheet, covering liquidity, funding, capital and the HQLA portfolio. You will act as the primary interface with Finance, Risk, and executive leadership to sustain risk-adjusted returns and regulatory compliance.

You will own the SA and USD ALM budgets, steer positions within risk appetite, and work with Global Markets to coordinate funding and hedging.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate finance/economics/accounting qualification.
• CA(SA) or CFA advantageous for the role.
• Senior experience in bank treasury, ALM, liquidity or balance sheet management.

Responsibilities

• Own ZAR and USD ALM budgets and performance.
• Steer liquidity and funding within approved limits.
• Optimise NII, margin and economic value of the banking book.
• Oversee IRRBB, repricing and optionality risks.
• Advise ALCO on balance sheet strategy and actions.
• Engage regulators, governance committees and senior executives.
