Job summary

Astral Foods Ltd, a leading Southern African poultry producer, invites applications for a Storeman at the County Fair Primary Processing Plant in Fisantekraal. The role focuses on proper handling, storage, stock control, and adherence to company policies.

The successful candidate will be responsible for stock takes, receiving and issuing goods, placing stock orders, and supporting HACCP and housekeeping programs, with overtime flexibility and reliable transport.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Must be computer literate.
• Must have the ability to manage high stock levels.
• Proactive and able to work accurately and independently.
• Experience in mechanical maintenance/repair of poultry processing or rendering equipment is a plus.
• Fluent in English and a second official language.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Store Controller with activities in the general store.
• Conduct weekly and monthly stock takes.
• Maintain stock control of packaging, chemicals and PPE.
• Receive and issue goods and/or equipment.

Role Purpose

The purpose of the Storeman is to to ensure proper handling and storage of all stock items, in the specific stores and is properly controlled and stocked according to company policies and procedures.

The Ideal Candidate Would Be Responsible For

• Assisting the Store Controller with activities as allocated in the general store;
• Weekly and monthly stock taking;
• Stock control of packaging, chemicals and PPE;
• Receiving and issuing of goods and/or equipment;
• Placing of stock orders timeously;
• Assisting in the implementation of 20 Keys / HACCP / Risk Control and the application of general housekeeping rules.

The Successful Candidate Must Meet The Following Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Must be computer literate
• Must have the ability to manage high stock levels
• Must be proactive and able to work accurately and independently
• Previous experience in mechanical maintenance, repair of poultry processing and rendering plant equipment will be a distinct advantage
• Fluent in English and a second official language
• Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, shifts and on public holidays when required
• Must have reliable transport
