Red Ember is currently recruiting a Store Manager for Durban.
The client is looking for a Store Manager to manage multiple stores in Durban. The manager's functions include ensuring the achievement of sales and profit objectives, maintaining service and operational standards, and being responsible for the management, motivation, and engagement of staff.
Accountabilities
- Sales
- Manage sales plan for the store and set individual targets according to hours worked.
- Drive sales to closure by asking questions and making appropriate product recommendations.
- Monitor sales daily and find solutions when sales decline.
- Meet regularly with Site / Area Manager to review sales and operational objectives.
- Ensure staff are up-to-date with procedures, sales, and return policies.
- Authorize discounts with discretion.
People Management & Development
- Produce and manage work schedules to optimally staff the store according to peak trading times.
- Organize and oversee staff and casual training according to company policies.
- Engage in networking activities to build a pool of potential Sales Consultant candidates.
- Assist with recruitment, training, and development of high-quality Sales Consultants.
- Organize and ensure completion of all daily, weekly, and monthly paperwork.
- Conduct weekly meetings with staff to review sales targets and address issues.
- Monitor sales and motivate staff to meet targets.
- Handle minor disciplinary issues and issue warnings as needed.
- Develop, motivate, and lead staff to ensure teamwork and positive morale.
- Manage staff performance to meet KPIs and conduct appraisals.
- Ensure staff know how to process warranties on POS system correctly.
- Draw up training plans and facilitate staff training, including onboarding new recruits.
Customer Service
- Demonstrate and coach exceptional customer service.
- Respond promptly to customer queries and complaints.
- Build customer relationships for repeat business.
- Assess frames and decide on warranty procedures, keeping customers informed.
- Stay informed about fashion, retail trends, and competitors to enhance customer experience.
- Handle customer complaints professionally and timely.
Stock Control
- Maintain inventory control and secure merchandise.
- Plan and monitor stock takes.
- Respond to stock discrepancies and investigations.
- Ensure daily stock counts with each shift change.
- Minimize stock loss according to procedures.
- Investigate discrepancies and report to management; take disciplinary action if necessary.
- Manage shrinkage levels within target ratios.
- Process returns and IBTs promptly.
Store Operations
- Manage store and stock presentation:
- Visual Merchandising
- Product and assortment guidelines
- Campaign setup
- Maintain store appearance and cleanliness
- Ensure good housekeeping inside and outside the store
- Ensure availability of cleaning supplies
- Check daily cash-up procedures
- Oversee store finances, complete control sheets, and handle daily banking
- Perform daily cash reconciliation checks
Requirements
- Essential: Matric certificate
- Preferred: Tertiary qualification in retail management or commerce
- Essential: Previous experience in retail or customer service
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets
- Preferred: 2+ years’ retail management experience
