Overview

SUMMARY : We are seeking a motivated, experienced Retail Store Manager to take charge of day-to-day operations in Mbazwana, drive sales, manage the team, and ensure an exceptional customer experience. You will be responsible for achieving financial targets, maintaining store standards, and leading staff to deliver excellent service.

Responsibilities
  • Lead by example as required.
  • Be at work 20 minutes before the start of shift with the Store Manager to prep for the team.
  • Complete all tasks accurately and timeously.
  • Communicate effectively with Head Office and staff.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure daily tasks and administrative duties are completed.
  • Prevent stock loss.
  • Follow all lawful instructions issued by Head Office and ensure tasks are completed accurately and timeously.
  • Open and close the store.
  • Manage all cash in the store.
  • Responsible for all stock in the store.
  • Develop and manage staff, including new appointments and promotions.
  • Develop an action plan for staff development (e.g., succession planning).
  • Counsel and discipline staff under managerial guidance.
  • Identify staff for development and coaching, including non-performing staff.
  • Follow up on tasks issued to staff and ensure accuracy.
  • Manage the Stockroom controller responsibilities.
Stockroom and Stock Control
  • Ensure correct procedures are followed when stock is received and when trucks deliver stock.
  • Check that seals are intact and resealed correctly.
  • Verify that the packing list matches the received boxes.
  • Ensure IBTs, recalls, empty boxes, tags, pins, and extra fittings are returned with the driver.
  • Ensure driver leaves with all relevant paperwork.
  • Unpack received stock quickly and accurately; verify quantities and PLUs against box stickers and packing lists.
  • Inform management of shortages or overages and follow up to resolve queries with Head Office.
  • Double-check that PLUs and prices are correct.
  • Tag stock correctly with appropriate hard or soft tags and use stockroom book to record PLUs and tagging time.
  • Send all stock received to the shop floor within 24 hours of delivery.
  • Maintain an orderly and tidy stockroom; label each department; ensure stockroom boxes have PLU, description, and quantity clearly recorded with sample outside the box.
  • Ensure no box contains fewer than 10 units; move smaller lots to the shop floor.
  • Keep lay-bya stock in stockroom neatly hung in numeric order.
  • Manage replenishment of stock and ensure stock is available on the shop floor.
Replenishment and Merchandising
  • Show samples of all new stock to management and floor staff during the morning meeting.
  • Ensure all stock is on the shop floor and available to customers.
  • Liaise with management and floor staff on stock requirements.
  • Replenish the shop floor daily and maintain adequate stock levels at all times.
  • Keep shop floor well-maintained and visually organized.
Stock Management
  • Know your best sellers and monitor zero sales reports.
  • Ensure best-seller stock has correct quantity and sizing on the shop floor.
  • Ensure all stock is on the shop floor with correct quantities.
  • Manage rejects by sending them back to the warehouse twice a month (15th and last day of the month) and provide quantities if rejects exceed 15 units.
  • Keep hangers organized by style with samples outside the box.
  • Return extra hangers, tags, pins, fittings, and fixtures to the warehouse; flatten and bundle empty boxes to return to warehouse.
Transactions and Customer Interactions
  • Authorise refunds and exchanges as required.
  • Handle customer complaints and queries professionally.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Daily admin functions: process payouts for cashiers as required and maintain a payout register.
  • Print and file all reports correctly.
  • Ensure cash flow is managed and daily sales targets are assigned to staff with follow-up.
  • Prepare and report figures to Head Office.
