Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Customer Journey
- Customer-centric approach
- Ensuring customer service standards are rigorously applied
- Attending to all customer service requests, advertising on products and services, ensuring VM standards are adhered to, and executing all plans and promotions
People Management: (Assist Store Manager with functions)
- Manage all people-related aspects for staff on an ongoing basis
- Deal with employee shortcomings as needed
- Assist with recruitment according to company policy and procedures
- Identify training and development initiatives for employees
- Assist with performance management, focusing on talent management and succession planning
- Lead and manage a team of employees
- Develop staff through identified training initiatives
Daily Operations/Stock Management/Risk Management
- Open and lock the store following security procedures
- Conduct start & end of day reporting and procedures
- Manage administration tasks such as staff scheduling, leave, invoices, pricing, costs, floats & banking, expense control, reconciliations, CDC, and head office instructions
- Ensure merchandise is offloaded, captured, packed, merchandised, and displayed per company policy
- Monitor merchandise quality and control soilage, taking appropriate action
- Control shrinkage
- Ensure adherence to OHS standards at all times
Sales/Promotions
- Promote sales to achieve budgets and monitor sales, turnover, and participation
- Conduct promotions
- Implement markdowns and RTCs
Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent
- 2 years' experience as an assistant manager in clothing or related retail
- Computer literacy in MS Outlook, Excel, Word, MS Teams/Zoom
- Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, and after-hours stock takes
- Willingness to be moved between stores as needed
- Ability to undertake physical hands-on tasks
- Complete an assessment
- Must be based in Knysna
