Job description

Introduction

Spar retail stores pty (ltd), a division of the Spar Group Ltd, is recruiting for a Store Manager at Superspar Rant en Dal.

Duties & Responsibilities
Purpose:

The purpose of the Store Manager is to be responsible for the functions of all departments of a store and for brand building exercises related to the store. Upholding the image and building the reputation of the store should be the key responsibilities of a retail store manager.

Key Performance Areas
  • Overseeing the functions of all departments of the store.
  • Managing shrinkage levels to within the company's targeted ratio.
  • Implementing policies and procedures to minimize stock loss.
  • Strategizing sales and marketing plans to drive revenue.
  • Recruiting and training employees.
  • Negotiating with suppliers and vendors for procurement.
  • Allocating budgets and planning finances.
  • Evaluating sales reports and customer feedback.
  • Having sound knowledge of SIGMA or similar stock management systems.
  • Strong analytical skills for generating and interpreting management reports.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to store standards.
  • Policy-driven with a focus on adherence to company protocols.
  • Managing and motivating a team to foster a positive work culture.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in retail management software and POS systems.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and shifts as required.
  • Planning new initiatives to increase store footfall.
  • Controlling inventory and maintaining product standards.

Desired Experience & Qualifications
  • Degree or diploma in management is favorable.
  • Experience in retail merchandising, sales, or related fields with 3-5 years in the retail industry.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills for negotiating with suppliers and vendors.
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate employees.
  • Experience managing staff, delegation, attendance, disciplinary, and industrial relations.
  • 10 or more years of experience in a senior management position.
