Introduction

Spar retail stores pty (ltd), a division of the Spar Group Ltd, is recruiting for a Store Manager in Johannesburg.

Purpose

The Store Manager is responsible for all departments of the store and for brand-building activities related to the store. Upholding the store's image and reputation is a key responsibility.

Key Performance Areas

1. Overseeing all store departments.
2. Managing shrinkage levels within targeted ratios and implementing policies to minimize stock loss.
3. Developing sales and marketing strategies to increase revenue.
4. Recruiting, training, and managing store employees.
5. Negotiating with suppliers and vendors.
6. Managing budgets and financial planning.
7. Evaluating sales reports and customer feedback.
8. Utilizing stock management systems like SIGMA.
9. Generating and interpreting management reports.
10. Maintaining store standards with attention to detail.
11. Ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
12. Motivating and managing a team to foster a positive work environment.
13. Communicating effectively with staff and stakeholders.
14. Organizing and managing store operations efficiently.
15. Planning and implementing strategies to increase store footfall.
16. Controlling inventory and maintaining product standards.
17. Analyzing market reports and competitor strategies.
18. Setting and reviewing sales targets.
19. Applying labor and working policies daily.
20. Planning new initiatives to enhance store performance.
21. Managing staff scheduling, attendance, disciplinary actions, and industrial relations.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree or diploma in management or related field (favorable).
• 3-5 years of retail experience, preferably in merchandising or sales.
• 10+ years in senior management roles.

Skills:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Proficiency in retail management software and POS systems.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and shifts.
