Introduction

Spar Retail Stores Pty Ltd, a division of the Spar Group Ltd, is recruiting for a Store Manager at Witbank (Emalahleni).

Duties & Responsibilities

Purpose: The Store Manager is responsible for all departmental functions within the store and for brand-building activities related to the store. Upholding the store's image and building its reputation are key responsibilities.

Key Performance Areas

  1. Overseeing all store departments' functions.
  2. Managing shrinkage levels to meet company targets.
  3. Implementing policies and procedures to minimize stock loss.
  4. Developing sales and marketing strategies to increase revenue.
  5. Recruiting and training store employees.
  6. Negotiating with suppliers and vendors.
  7. Allocating budgets and managing store finances.
  8. Analyzing sales reports and customer feedback.
  9. Possessing knowledge of SIGMA or similar stock management systems.
  10. Generating and interpreting management reports with strong analytical skills.
  11. Maintaining attention to detail and store standards.
  12. Adhering to company policies and procedures.
  13. Managing and motivating a team to foster a positive work environment.
  14. Exhibiting excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  15. Organizing and managing time effectively.
  16. Using retail management software and POS systems proficiently.
  17. Working flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  18. Planning new initiatives to increase store footfall.
  19. Controlling inventory and maintaining product standards.
  20. Studying market reports and competitor strategies.
  21. Setting and reviewing sales targets for the team.
  22. Applying knowledge of labor policies daily.

Desired Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in management is favorable.
  • 3-5 years of experience in retail merchandising, sales, or related fields.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for negotiations.
  • Proven leadership abilities and team motivation skills.
  • Experience in staff management, delegation, attendance, disciplinary actions, and industrial relations.
  • 10 or more years of experience in a senior management role.
