Job description

Purpose : The primary goal of this role is to ensure the smooth daily operation of the store, with a focus on maximizing profits and minimizing costs.

This includes maintaining store facilities to provide customers with easy access to products and services, ensuring accurate promotions, and executing merchandising in line with company standards.

Staff should be well-informed about daily targets, and high standards of customer service must be upheld.

Additionally, the role involves effective staff management, product marketing, store logistics, financial oversight, and customer engagement.

These responsibilities collectively support sustainable growth in both margins and overall profitability.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES : Making sure that the store meets sales targetsManaging and motivating a team of subordinatesLooking for ways to increase sales and ensure efficiency, including follow-up of work resultsDoing quotations for big clientsManaging stock levels and making decisions about stock management and controlAnalysing sales figures and forecasting future salesManaging the supply and demand of productsAnalysing and interpreting trends to facilitate planningDealing with staffing issues such as interviewing potential staff, conducting performance appraisals and reviews, taking disciplinary action including initiating and chairing disciplinary inquiries.Send daily attendance exception reports, leave schedules and all HR related documentation to Head Office on a daily basis.Ensure that Health and Safety and customer service standards are metResolving health and safety, legal and security issues relating to the storeResponding to customer complaints and commentsOrganising promotions, displays and special eventsAttending and chairing management meetings for the storeUpdating subordinates on business performance, new initiatives and opportunities in the storeTouring the sales floor regularly, identifying and resolving urgent issuesMaintaining awareness of market trends in the retail industry, understanding forthcoming customer initiatives and monitoring what local competitors are doingInitiating changes to improve the businessGenerate additional new business development opportunitiesPrepare SWOT report for the CEO for feedback at the Board MeetingParticipate in perpetual stock takesEnsure housekeeping of work area (s)Perform any work-related tasks as delegated by superiorREQUIREMENTS : Matric or equivalent NQF4 qualificationRelevant tertiary qualification NQF aligned (Higher Certificate / Diploma or Degree5 - 8 years management experience5 years experience in the industry5 years minimum experience in a similar roleOwn transport is preferable with a valid driver's licenseAbility to communicate effectively (verbal & written) at all levelsAbility to handle pressureAttention to detailComputer skills – Microsoft office (Internet, E-mails, Word & Excel)Department and product Knowledge across the boardMust have sound knowledge of Health and Safety aspects in line with local (OHSA) legislationAbility to understand relevant legislationMust have strong Human Resources Management skillsStrong leadership and decision-making skillsMaintain good relations with stakeholders including suppliers and ability to engage new suppliersWilling to take responsibilityExcellent customer service and interpersonal skillsAnalytical and problem-solving skillsPlanning and organising skillsTime management skillsAdvanced Numerically skilledKindly note that if you are not contacted within 2 weeks after the closing date, please consider your application unsuccessful.We are committed to having staff that reflect the diversity of our nation we will conduct our recruitment and appointments in line with the Company's equity targets and we are committed to improving our positions.
