To manage the overall financial function of a store.

Key Performance Indicators
  1. Control, manage, and evaluate the full finance support function, including policies and procedures, for the store.
  2. Understand all systems that relate to and affect the stores, identifying potential opportunities to enhance current systems and procedures, and raise these with the Regional Finance Manager (Operations).
  3. Drive change management and educate staff on finance policies, procedures, processes, and templates.
  4. Ensure controls are adequate and suggest additional controls where necessary, ensuring compliance with legislation and industry standards, and the effective understanding and implementation of key controls throughout the store.
  5. Manage and mitigate business complexity to optimize trading.
  6. Monitor and track adherence to finance policies, procedures, processes, and templates.
  7. Ensure full reconciliation of all income statement and balance sheet accounts, maintaining accurate and complete accounting records.
  8. Produce detailed reports on all financial aspects of the business to enable progress tracking.
  9. Guide and support all aspects of store financial decision-making.
  10. Investigate ways to improve profitability.
  11. Manage Front End within budget and company requirements.
  12. Facilitate good corporate governance.
  13. Consolidate and interpret store budgets, forecasts, and actual performance.
  14. Support the end-to-end budget process, meeting all timelines and setting realistic budgets.
  15. Analyze store performance versus budget/forecast and revise forecasts accordingly.
  16. Compile monthly reports comparing actuals to budgets and forecasts.
Team Management
  1. Ensure all staff are trained and enabled to meet customer service standards.
  2. Communicate team goals and foster a customer-focused environment.
  3. Lead by example, motivating teams to meet standards and benchmarks.
  4. Take responsibility for team performance, managing recruitment, development, remuneration, and training.
Operational Responsibilities
  1. Manage costs and customer service.
  2. Monitor and review inventory management, stock control, and receiving.
Stakeholder Engagement
  1. Maintain communication and build relationships with Head Office, Distribution Centre, and store teams.
  2. Understand operational impacts and provide solutions related to finance.
  3. Align store objectives with broader business strategies.
  4. Identify problem areas and advise management on improvements using finance processes.
Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications & Experience
  • BCom Degree
  • 3-5 years relevant operational financial management experience in retail or FMCG industries
