Job description

A Vacancy exists for a Senior Stock Controller based at Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital, reporting to the Inventory Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring quality pharmaceutical services, financial objectives, legislative compliance, and people management requirements are achieved to the required standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Ensure optimal stock management in all units through effective interdepartmental liaising, communication, and administrative support to the pharmacy team.
  2. Effective medication safety management.
  3. Report % of theatre alerts and incidents.
  4. Ensure compliance to LHC Quality management systems.
  5. Ensure compliance with SAPC, DOH, and LHC legal and professional standards.
  6. Ensure customer satisfaction and pharmacy quality initiatives.
  7. Capturing and handling of product complaints.
  8. Implementing and maintaining LHC formulary.
  9. Participate in the active management of cost of sales.
  10. Build effective working relationships with nursing staff.
  11. Manage non-recoverable usage.
  12. Effective asset management.
  13. Management of the theatre stock room.
  14. Managing the procurement, control, and distribution of stock within the theatre complex.
  15. Participate in achieving stock targets i.e. stock days, dead stock, stock variances.
  16. Excellent stock-take knowledge with good management of short dated stock.
  17. Participate in achieving hospital budgeted financial measures relating to pharmacy.
  18. Manage and minimize stock write-offs.
  19. Management of unreconciled liabilities.
  20. Ensure correct ordering, issuing, timeous receipting, and crediting of stock.
  21. Management of negative stock.
  22. Achieve optimal system utilization.
  23. Effective people management.
  24. Ensure good communication with nursing staff and doctors.

Requirements

  1. Grade 12 National Senior Certificate.
  2. A minimum of three years' hospital experience in a theatre environment is required.
  3. Good sound working knowledge of SAP and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) is essential.
  4. Experience within inventory management / stock management or relevant experience within a pharmaceutical environment.
  5. Knowledge of inventory control, processes, procedures, and practices.
  6. A person who is result-oriented, pays attention to detail, and has excellent interpersonal as well as excellent communication skills.
  7. Customer focus, a commitment towards continuous improvement, the ability to work independently, and the management of time is required.
  8. Willingness to work overtime, after hours, and weekends is also required.
  9. Ability to work under pressure.
  10. Private Healthcare experience will be advantageous.
