Job description

Stock Controller

We are looking for a Stock Controller to manage our inventory and purchase merchandise based on our company's needs. The Stock Controller's responsibilities include tracking shipments, replenishing items according to business needs, and implementing purchases.

Additional duties involve overseeing inventory audits and maintaining reports of purchases and pricing.

To be successful in this role, you should be familiar with supply chain procedures and have good communication skills to interact with vendors, clients, and internal teams. Ultimately, you will increase profitability and effectiveness by maintaining optimal stock levels of quality products at all times.

Responsibilities
  1. Forecast supply and demand to prevent overstocking and running out-of-stock (OOS)
  2. Enter purchase details (vendor information, invoices, and pricing) into internal databases
  3. Place orders to replenish merchandise as needed
  4. Track shipments and address any delays
  5. Oversee storage of products
  6. Evaluate suppliers' offers and negotiate profitable deals
  7. Liaise with warehouse staff and other internal teams to test products' quality (status upon delivery and storage conditions)
  8. Keep updated inventory records (including daily shipments)
  9. Ensure purchases do not exceed budget
  10. Follow up on orders placed into the factory
  11. Maintain thorough attention to detail
  12. Demonstrate organization and time management skills
  13. Perform well under pressure
  14. Collaborate effectively with suppliers, customers, and team members
Requirements
  • Matric, Grade 12 certificate
  • Proven work experience as a Stock Controller, Inventory Manager, or similar role
  • Good understanding of supply chain procedures
  • Working knowledge of inventory management software
  • Active participation in inventory audits
  • Good communication and negotiation abilities
  • Computer literacy
  • Exposure to manufacturing and production processes
