The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the quality pharmaceutical services, financial objectives, legislative compliance and people management requirements are achieved to the required standards. A key part of the role will be ensuring optimal stock management in all units through effective interdepartmental liaising, communication and administrative support to the pharmacy team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the quality pharmaceutical services, financial objectives, legislative compliance and people management requirements are achieved to the required standards. A key part of the role will be ensuring optimal stock management in all units through effective interdepartmental liaising, communication and administrative support to the pharmacy team.

Critical Outputs

Effective medication safety management

  • Report 100% of inventory related incidents and develop and implement remedial actions as appropriate.
  • Report 100% of pharmacy inventory related alerts and develop and implement remedial action and complete a trends analysis quarterly.

Effective quality management systems

  • Participate in the implementation and compliance to LHC Quality management systems.
  • Retain ISO 9001 accreditation and compliance with SAPC, DOH and LHC legal/professional standards.
  • 100% implementation of relevant inventory quality initiatives
  • Participate in achieving required customer service levels in theatre and wards.
  • Identify compliance gaps to published procedures, Q-Learnings, Q-Directives and implement a plan
  • Implement corrective actions highlighted during QMS reviews
  • Communicate product and supplier changes or “out of stocks” to relevant pharmacy and inventory staff, nursing and doctors

Effective financial management

  • Participate in achieving hospital budgeted financial measures relating to pharmacy.

Effective product management

  • Participate in the active management of cost of sales of pharmaceuticals in line with revenue and budget.
  • Build effective working relationships with doctors.
  • Manage product complaints for surgical and consumable stock

Effective asset management

  • Participate in achieving stock targets: Stock cover, Dead stock, Stock adjustments: gross variance and net variance
  • Achieve optimal system utilization and ensure up to date and accurate Item Master
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years’ working experience in a Pharmacy/ Pharmaceutical Stores environment
  • 2-3 years’ experience in an administration/ finance related role
  • Knowledge of inventory control processes, procedures and practices
  • Knowledge and proficiency in SAP – advantageous
  • People management experience
