Job Description
Inventory Management :
- Maintain accurate records of stock levels, stock movements, and locations.
- Update and reconcile stock on ERP systems with physical stock counts.
Counting and Reconciliation :
- Conduct regular cycle counts and full stock takes in collaboration with warehouse staff.
- Identify and investigate inventory variances and document findings for corrective action.
- Assist in implementing controls and procedures to reduce shrinkage and improve stock accuracy.
Stock Movement Coordination :
- Record all goods received, issued, transferred, and returned in accordance with procedures.
- Ensure proper labelling and storage of items to facilitate easy identification and retrieval.
- Oversee stock adjustments, including damaged or obsolete stock, in collaboration with management.
Cross-Functional Coordination :
- Work closely with the warehouse, finance, and procurement teams to ensure alignment on inventory handling.
- Verify physical stock against supplier delivery notes and internal transfer documents.
- Participate in internal audits and stock review meetings.
Stock Receiving :
- Receive incoming stock deliveries and verify quantities and items against supplier documentation.
- Inspect received stock for damages or discrepancies and report any issues immediately.
- Ensure all received items are correctly recorded in the inventory system and stored appropriately.
Stock Dispatch :
- Coordinate the picking and dispatch of stock in line with delivery schedules.
- Verify items to be dispatched against sales orders or transfer requests.
- Ensure proper packaging, labeling, and documentation of outgoing goods.
Additional Responsibilities :
- Perform any reasonable task required by management that may not be explicitly outlined above.
- Be flexible and adaptable to changes in duties and responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
- National Senior Certificate or NQF 4 equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a stock control or inventory-related role.
- Experience in the electrical distribution or similar industry
- Good understanding of inventory control systems and stock auditing practices.
- Knowledge of ERP or warehouse management systems.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Numerical accuracy and ability to identify inconsistencies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data reporting tools.
- Effective communication skills with a proactive work approach.
- Ability to work under pressure, independently and in a team.
