Job summary

Morton Moore Pty Ltd in Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, is seeking an experienced Instrumentation Technician to join its new plant maintenance team. The role focuses on keeping process control and measurement systems accurate and reliable, with responsibilities across calibration, maintenance, and fault-finding in PLC/SCADA/DCS environments.

You will work shifts, standby and emergency call-outs, and collaborate with engineering teams on process improvements and plant modifications.

Qualifications

Trade Tested Instrument Mechanician or a National Diploma / N6 in Electrical Engineering (Instrumentation / Process Control).
Minimum 3–5 years' experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Experience in steel, foundry, heavy engineering or a similar heavy industrial environment is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Carry out planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance on plant instrumentation and control systems.
Install, calibrate, test and maintain field instruments measuring temperature, pressure, flow and level.
Maintain and tune control loops, control valves, actuators and positioners.
Fault-find on PLC, SCADA and DCS systems and their I/O.
Read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams and instrument datasheets.
