As the Buyer, you will be responsible for acquiring the best price from suppliers and ensuring the availability, control, and purchase of raw materials and consumables for production.

Key Responsibilities

• Purchase goods and services at the right quality, quantity, time, price and sources to maximize value.
• Manage capable and secure supply base to deliver business needs through best procurement practices.
• Deliver successful projects where nominated as the project leader or project member.
• Use SAP MRP data and internal customer input to place, expedite and reconcile purchase orders.
• Resolve all supplier payments issues and blocked invoices queries.
• Collaborate with local and global team members, cross-functional teams, other departments and functions to deliver on commitments.
• Proactively educate the business on purchasing procedures and systems.
• Update the budget, sourcing portfolio, spend, supply planning and KPI files.
• Highlight any supply risk identified to the business.
• Log and resolve claims logged against suppliers.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in purchasing / Supply Chain or similar.
• SAPICS / CIPS certification is an advantage.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a strategic sourcing or procurement related role.
• Knowledge of administration and management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods and coordination of people and resources.
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products.
• Specific knowledge of steel buying will be advantageous.
