Statutory Reporting & Policy Advice Manager

Job Purpose: As the Statutory Reporting & Policy Advice Manager, you will be one of the principal contacts for complex IFRS accounting matters.

You will be the subject matter expert on IFRS accounting matters and provide critical guidance, training, and advice to the group.

This role will be a key interface with the external audit team, coordinating the audit effort across the group and ensuring an effective audit.

Reports to: Head of Group Reporting & Policy Advice

Requirements

1. Principal Accountabilities:

1. Owning IFRS accounting guidelines
2. Preparing accounting policies and maintaining VE's accounting manual
3. Identifying, analyzing, and implementing new IFRS accounting standards within VE and ensuring their application
4. Providing IFRS and reporting training to VE's finance organization
5. Statutory Reporting:

1. Ensure Accounting Standards are understood, and changes are introduced to all operating units
2. Produce accurate consolidated results for audit purposes
3. Prepare regular management reports, including KPIs, dashboards/board packs, and performance summaries, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
4. Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis to support business decisions and strategic initiatives
5. Maintain and improve templates and processes for standardized reporting across OUs

1. Stakeholder Collaboration:

1. Work closely with the Central accounting teams and OU local finance teams to ensure alignment on reporting and key timelines
2. Respond to inquiries from OUs and other stakeholders regarding policy guidance
3. Provide clear accounting and policy guidance/training

1. System and Data Management:

1. Support the Group reporting team in maintaining and optimizing financial planning systems and tools
2. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data by performing reconciliations and validating inputs
3. Assist in data migration and system improvement projects as required

1. Continuous Improvement:

1. Identify opportunities to streamline financial planning and reporting processes for greater efficiency
2. Contribute to the development of best practices in data analysis, visualization, and reporting

Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Essential:

1. Chartered Accountant with articles at Big 4 Audit firm
2. 7 - 10 years relevant professional experience
3. Accountancy experience at group reporting level within a multinational organization and/or relevant audit experience within one of the international audit firms
4. IFRS knowledge (ideally with accountancy/audit degree)
5. Extensive internal controls knowledge and internal or external audit experience
6. Very strong analytical and communication skills

Desirable:

1. Experience in downstream Oil and Gas or manufacturing industries
2. Previous hands-on consolidation experience for large groups of companies
