Statistical Data Analyst – Credit Portfolio | Financial Services | Cape Town

A leading financial institution is looking for a Statistical Data Analyst to join their credit division based in Cape Town. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled data professional to play a key role in shaping credit strategy and supporting high-level decision-making through data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse credit portfolios and develop regular reports for senior leadership
  • Build and maintain dashboards and data models to track key performance indicators
  • Extract insights from complex datasets to support risk, credit, and business strategies
  • Support internal rating frameworks, model calibrations, and risk appetite assessments
  • Partner with stakeholders across the business to ensure data accuracy and reporting relevance
  • Recommend improvements to existing data systems, processes, and methodologies

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 5+ years’ experience in a data analytics or credit risk analysis role
  • 3+ years in credit, risk or financial services analytics is highly preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL, Excel, and data visualisation tools (Power BI/Tableau)
  • Exposure to Python or R for statistical modelling and data manipulation
  • Ability to communicate technical insights to non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong organisational, problem-solving and project management skills
