Starke Ayres is the foremost African specialist and global supplier of premium vegetable, flower, and lawn seed varieties – both for commercial and home garden planting.

The following position has become available for a Graphic Designer Assistant, based in Kempton Park.

The purpose of this role is to assist with project requirements, developing concepts, graphics, and layouts for product, print, and digital artwork. This is a temporary position to assist while an employee is on maternity leave.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist in designing marketing materials, including brochures, posters, digital banners, social media graphics, and packaging.
  2. Prepare and adapt artwork for print and digital formats.
  3. Ensure all creative work aligns with the company's brand identity and messaging.
  4. Assist with photo editing and layout design.
  5. Support the senior design team with day-to-day design tasks and projects.
  6. Maintain organised design files and follow internal workflow procedures.
Requirements
  • Diploma or degree in Graphic Design or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • A strong eye for layout, typography, and detail.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and take direction.
  • Required to work independently and collaboratively as a team.
  • Portfolio showcasing relevant design work.
  • Prior experience (internship or freelance) is a plus, but not essential.
