Agoda is looking for an experienced backend/data engineer to build robust backend systems and scalable data pipelines in our fintech domain. You will work on data collection, processing, and analysis to support reliable data insights and informed business decisions.

The role emphasizes leadership, cross‑functional collaboration, and delivering high‑performing systems. Based in Bangkok with relocation provided, you will join a global tech team driving innovation across travel fintech.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience with Java, Kotlin, Scala and high‑performance production applications.
• Proficient with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark) and SQL/data architecture.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills; able to work in an agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Own full product lifecycle from requirements to monitoring, across fintech platforms.
• Design, develop and maintain data pipelines and backend systems.
• Improve system performance, scalability, and reliability to meet financial domain needs.
• Mentor teammates and promote high‑quality coding practices across the team.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive product and technology goals.
• Recruiting and onboarding exceptional engineering talent to shape the team.
