Embedded DevOps (Platform Enablement)

About the Role

As a Staff DevOps Engineer on the Embedded DevOps team , you will be instrumental in the delivery of software applications that allow our customers to transform the management of commercial real estate investments . You’ll play a critical role and have equal ownership with the development teams in designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure that powers and supports state of the art P rop T ech such as our decarbonization tools and IoT building system sensors .

The ability to work as peers with senior developers and development engineering is a key aspect of this role. Great technical acumen is table stak e s for the role with extensive experience in one of the major cloud providers, preferably AWS , strong leadership, and strong communication skills are your differentiators. You will be required to make sound business and technical trade-off decisions that align with business objectives and enterprise compliance requireme nts.

We are a group of collaborators that operate as entrepreneurial startups, and in this role, you will develop solutions and partner with engineers to set up the foundation that will be leveraged by both internal and external customers. This is a fantastic opportunity to have real ownership of projects and to be able to see your work come to life on a global scale.

Our software is built using modern web frameworks and architectures suc h as JAM s tack and S erverless C omput ing and C ontainers on multiple clouds.

This role is fully remote but with availability to work during US (United States) time zones .

Who You Are

You have a bachelor's degree in computer science or other engineering discipline

You have 8+ years of experience in 24x7 production operations for a SaaS (Software as a Service) or cloud service provider

You have experience with AWS (Amazon Web Services) or Azure IaaS (infrastructure as a service) and PaaS (Platform as a Service) offerings

You have experience with container orchestration and management platforms (Kubernetes, Docker)

You have experience with leading infrastructure and application monitoring tools (AppDynamics, Splunk )

You have deployed and managed Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)

You possess system programming skills in Go, Python, PowerShell, Bash etc.

You are familiar with CI/CD practices and tools (Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps)

You have a strong understanding of networking concepts

You have strong interpersonal and team skills - ability to implement process and influence engineers who are not direct reports

What You’ll Do

Build and maintain a resilient, secure, and efficient SaaS application platform to meet established s ervice levels

Automate build, test, and deployment for distributed, fault-tolerant infrastructure

Monitoring and incident response for distributed applications

Collaborate with developers to bring new features and services into production using best practices

Utilize a combination of open-source and custom software to solve product challenges

Drive improvement to operational practices and procedures

Proactively meet standards for information security and compliance, such as ISO (International Standards Organization) , SOX (Sarbanes Oxley) , SSAE (Standards for Attestation Engagements) 16, etc.

Exert c onsiderable influence on the overall objectives and long- term goals of your team

Shepherd the definition, documentation, and improvement of our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale web environment

Represent JLLT (JLL Technologies) Engineering and its values in public communication around broad initiatives, specific projects, and community contributions. Interact with customers and other external stakeholders as a consultant and spokesperson for the work of your team

Drive innovation on the team with a willingness to experiment and to boldly confront problems of immense complexity and scope

Actively seek out difficult impediments to our efficiency as a team ("technical debt"), propose and implement solutions that will enable the entire team to iterate faster
