Job Opportunity: Staff Accountant at US-Based CPA Firm

Location: Hybrid (Stellenbosch-based with flexible work environment)

Are you a qualified or part-qualified CIMA or CGMA professional eager to advance your career in a global setting? Our client, a US-based CPA firm, is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team.

Responsibilities
  1. Weekly Management: Categorize bank feeds, reconcile accounts, produce financial statements, and file sales tax returns.
  2. Quarterly Reviews: Prepare for filings and quarterly tax projects.
  3. Client Engagement: Build relationships with U.S. clients and assist the Accounting and Tax Manager.
  4. Onboarding & Support: Integrate new clients and handle special requests.
  5. Pathway to U.S. Tax Work: After establishing accounting skills, transition into U.S. tax work, gaining expertise in a high-demand area.
Qualifications
  • BCom in Accounting preferred, especially from Stellenbosch, UCT, Pretoria, North-West, or Wits.
  • At least 3 years' experience, including articles.
  • Member / Part Member of CGMA (CIMA), committed to excellence.
  • Willing to work non-standard US hours (up to 11 PM), with limited weekend work during busy seasons, and open to travel.
  • Enthusiastic about learning US tax systems; prior US tax return experience is a plus.
  • Effective communication skills in virtual settings.
