The Opportunity
The Senior Prepress Specialist is responsible for creating production-ready graphic files per customer, press, and internal manufacturing specifications for the purpose of providing press-ready files for the digital printing process.
In an overflow capacity, they will provide similar support for flexo preprint printing process.
How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock
- Create or edit supplied artwork files to meet customer, press, and production requirements.
- Collect, read, and understand provided information from the job ticket, instructions, notes, and email while questioning completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
- Follow standard operating procedures and practices to ensure consistent and uniform quality of files.
- Complete work accurately in a time-sensitive environment.
- Work as a team player in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment with a focus on detail.
- Preflight supplied files using appropriate prepress software.
- Perform quality control on both flexo and digital artwork.
- Perform administrative tasks related to the digital graphics team on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
- Support and follow Westrock safety and culture initiatives.
- Participate in team calls.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What You Need To Succeed
- Associate degree or work equivalent in a Graphic Arts related field.
- 3+ years of experience in prepress processes and systems.
- Knowledge of digital and flexo preprint is an asset.
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator CC, Photoshop CC, and Esko AE Pilot Software.
- Working knowledge of Web Center, Automation Engine, GMG Color, Pitstop, and Hybrid systems is an asset.
- Advanced understanding of digital printing.
- Intermediate understanding of color management tools/processes, packaging industry, flexographic printing, and graphics.
- Ability to convert Adobe Illustrator design elements to digital print-ready files.
- Strong communication skills.
- Excellent time management, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
