Sr. Field Service Engineer – South Africa

Service Operations Department is looking for a Field Service Engineer to be located in Cape Town, South Africa.

This is an interesting and challenging opportunity to be part of a dynamic, motivated & competent team and presents growth opportunities in one of the most interesting markets! The position will be responsible for the preventive maintenance, repair, fault diagnosis, and on-site servicing of Alfa Laval equipment on board ships and land-based installations, such as decanters, separators, and plate heat exchangers.

The Service Engineer will be required to work across the region & internationally, with an envisaged travel of 2-3 weeks per month.

Key Responsibilities & Objectives

1. Commissioning and troubleshooting high-speed separators, fresh water makers, and heat exchangers on board ships.
2. Troubleshooting electrical / PLC controls (EPC controls, 2 touch, basic & plus controls) associated with Alfa Laval equipment.
3. Handling decanters used in food / wastewater applications.
4. Executing audits and maintenance activities related to service agreements.
5. Training customer crew on the operation of Alfa Laval equipment.
6. Preparing service / audit reports with technical recommendations.
7. Maintaining a safety-conscious "think – act – behave" attitude.
8. Participating in ad hoc service projects.

Workplace & Hierarchy

The position is located in Johannesburg, South Africa, focusing mainly on the installed base across South & East Africa. The position will report to the Field Service Team Manager based in Johannesburg.

• Strong skills in electrical, PLC, and controls.
• Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written) and proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
