Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer for a fully remote role guiding environmental aspects of major infrastructure and industrial projects. You will lead EIAs, implement EMPs, and advise on permitting while promoting sustainable practices.

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of experience, strong leadership, and excellent communication skills to manage distributed teams and ensure compliance across projects.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Science, or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in environmental consulting or engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation and permitting in South Africa.
• Experience with environmental modeling and risk assessment techniques.
• Excellent project management, leadership, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of EIAs and EMPs.
• Develop strategies for pollution control, waste management, and resource conservation.
• Provide advice on environmental permitting and regulatory compliance.
• Conduct site assessments and audits to evaluate risks and performance.
• Collaborate with project teams and regulators to meet environmental objectives.
• Mentor junior environmental engineers and contribute to best practices.
