Sport Administrator and Physical Education Teacher

Established in 1879, St Mary’s Diocesan School for Girls is an independent, all-girls Anglican School situated in Hillcrest, Pretoria. The School prides itself in achieving a balance between the spiritual, moral, academic, cultural and physical development of its students and enjoys an excellent reputation, nationally and internationally. We provide a caring, unique and dynamic educational environment for day scholars from Grade 0 to Grade 12 and boarders from Grade 5 to Grade 12.

St Mary’s Diocesan School for Girls in Pretoria is inviting applications for the following position available:

Sport Administrator and Physical Education Teacher

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for teaching Physical Education to Junior School students from Grade 00 to Grade 7
  • Responsible for managing and coordinating various sport code programmes from Grade 00 to Grade 12, including the organisation of interschool festivals and tours
  • Incorporate the St Mary’s DSG values into day-to-day duties
  • Contribute to the wider life at the School, through involvement in the extracurricular and pastoral care programmes
  • Responsible for all duties as required of an academic educator as well as a sports organiser

Qualifications/Special Skills

  • A recognised academic degree, professional teaching qualification and SACE registered
  • Being a certified coach in multiple sporting codes especially in Netball would be an advantage
  • A love and passion for all sporting codes
  • A minimum of 3 years teaching experience
  • PDP will be advantageous
  • Have proof of clearance against the Sexual Offenders and Child Protection Registry – this is required for any staff member working in a school environment
  • Experience and confidence in IEB curriculum delivery will be an advantage
  • Have confidence, knowledge, experience and ability in teaching Physical Education and coaching various sporting codes as required
  • Be energetic, self-motivated, innovative, and display a creative teaching style
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and a willingness to contribute to a dynamic team
  • Ability to build healthy relationships with staff, students and parents
  • Willing to support, promote and work within the Anglican ethos of the School
