Job summary

Abantu Staffing Solutions is seeking a CAD draughtsperson to support existing products and the introduction of new items by creating accurate CAD drawings and specifications. You will assess new parts, manage CEF/NSA documentation, and collaborate with Purchasing and Receiving to ensure timely production readiness.

The role requires hands-on AutoCAD experience (2D/3D) and a solid understanding of technical and quality standards in component manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Grade 12/ National Technical Certificate with Draughtsmanship as a subject.
• Minimum 3 years’ hands‑on use of 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawing experience.
• Good understanding of technical and quality requirements in component manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain existing products by executing CAD drawings based on customer requirements and generate drawings and specs from CAD evaluations, 3D scanning and samples.
• Assess and evaluate incoming new parts for introduction, ensuring timely completion of CEF and NSA documents.
• Participate in feasibility reviews for new products with site input to aid decision making.
• Prepare CAD drawings, verify accuracy, obtain approvals and release components and artwork within timeframes and formats.
• Issue component drawings to Purchasing to enable sourcing for production.
• Send approved drawings to site Receiving for incoming inspection.
• Compile and update product specifications for parts to ensure production readiness.
• Control receipt, movement and storage of samples in line with company standards.
• Provide master samples to site for retention per standards.
• Scan parts for part approval and CAD creation to support reports for decision making.
• Assist with continuous improvement and ad-hoc projects in product engineering.
• Ensure effective communication of information to stakeholders for informed decision making.

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 3 years’ hands‑on use of 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawing experience

• Good understanding of technical and quality requirements in component manufacturing

RESPONSIBILITIES

Support and maintain existing products and the introduction of new products by executing the CAD drawing function based on customer requirements and needs, and generate drawings and specifications through the evaluation of CAD drawings, 3D scanning and physical samples for internal customers

• Support the introduction and maintenance of new products by assessing and evaluating incoming new parts for introduction to the business, ensuring accurate and timeous completion of CEF and NSA documents

• Support and participate in the feasibility review of the introduction of new products in conjunction with the affected site to support decision making

• Be responsible for CAD drawings, check the accuracy thereof, obtain necessary approval and release the components, part art works and trademarks within defined timeframes and required format to support the business

• Issue the necessary component drawings to the Purchasing Department to enable sourcing of components to support production

• Issue the approved component drawings to site receiving for incoming inspection

• Compile, verify and update product specification for parts and components to ensure the availability of specification for production when needed

• Control the receipt, movement and storage of samples in a manner that preserves their identity and integrity over time, as well as proper handling and storage of samples in line with company standards

• Supply site with master part/ component sample for storage retention in line with company standards and requirements

• Provide support services by scanning parts for part approval, component CAD creations and relevant requirements to supply the necessary reports and information for decision making

• Assist with continuous improvement and ad-hoc projects in order to drive continuous improvement and project support within product engineering

• Ensure effective communication of relevant information to all stakeholders to support effective decision making for the business
