ABOUT WESSELS

The South Africa Manganese operation can be found in the manganese rich Kalahari Basin, in the country’s Northern Cape, which is home to 80 per cent of the world's manganese. This position is based at our Wessels Mine which represents one of the largest manganese reserves in South Africa.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This role is a permanent full-time position.

As a Risk Specialist, you will be responsible for continually improving the Material Risk Profile for the mechanical risks including entanglement, crushing and structural failure.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Data analysis of systems linked to the relevant risks
• Infield verifications of controls
• Coaching and influencing of frontline
• Informing risk and control owners to make data driven decisions
• Participating in event and hazard investigations

ABOUT YOU;

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Must have a minimum of 5 years relevant safety, risk management, engineering or maintenance, experience in a mining environment.
• Experience in the management of risk relating to entanglement, crushing and structural failure.
• Experience in data analysis to identify trends and improvement opportunities.

Qualifications for this role are:

• Grade 12 with Mathematics & Science
• National Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Risk Management, Safety Management or similar.
