Are you ready to make a difference? Join an exciting and dynamic team of API Gateway Platform Engineers, responsible for shaping the technical API economy for the bank. Work within the Platforms and Engineering Gateway technology tribe, focusing on the development, design, and operation of the Datapower API Gateway platform.

Apply platform engineering expertise, critical thinking, design thinking, and problem-solving skills to produce well-organized, optimized, and documented source code that delivers platform features, service components, and solutions to complex technical problems.

Be capable of resolving escalated issues arising from the operations of the Datapower API Gateway Platform.

Key Accountabilities

• Leverage platform engineering expertise and knowledge of specific platforms (physical Datapower Gateway appliances, API Connect v10, VMware, Kubernetes, AWS services) to contribute to platform feature and service designs.
• Automate tasks using appropriate tools and scripting languages such as Kubernetes, Python, Terraform.
• Use and configure modern observability techniques, e.g., aggregated logging via Elastic Search stack, Kafka, metrics via Prometheus/Grafana.
• Identify risks proactively and prevent defects by applying technical expertise.
• Uphold our principles of self-service, scalability, reusability, resilience, and stability in all development practices.
• Enable problem resolution across technical teams, conduct root cause analysis, and find sustainable solutions.
• Optimize, refactor, and reuse components to improve performance and maintainability.
• Maintain platform standards and best practices, and promote their adoption across service teams.
• Contribute to a high-performance team environment by coaching and mentoring engineers, supporting technical solutions, and seeking continuous improvement.

Role / Person Specification

• Years of Datapower Gateway experience (administration, operations, development).
• Years of API Connect / v10 experience (administration, operations, development).
• Experience with scripting languages like Terraform, CloudFormation, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy.
• Experience with analytics tools and Big Data platforms such as Elastic Search, Kafka, Hadoop.
• Experience with Web Security protocols like OAuth, JWT, OIDC.
• Networking experience with understanding of network routing and security.

Ideal Certifications

• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), or Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS).
• AWS Associate level certifications.
• IBM Certified Solution Implementer - DataPower Gateway v10.
• IBM Certified Solution Implementer - API Connect v10.
