NHS Ayrshire & Arran is seeking a Specialist Medical Equipment Engineer to provide essential Mechanical/Electrical/Disinfection/Sterilization services. The role includes installing, repairing, and maintaining critical equipment within the NHS GGC Decontamination Department, with full-time, permanent employment opportunities available. Candidates are required to have relevant technical qualifications and experience in the field, ensuring safety and efficacy in service delivery.

This is a full-time, permanent position.
Post Location: NHS GGC Endoscopy Decontamination Sites
Salary: Band 6 / (Annex 21) upon satisfactory completion of Decontamination Periodic Testing Certification and Authorized Person training
Shift: Monday to Thursday 7AM to 3PM, Friday 7AM to 2:30PM, with on-call approximately one week in every eight
Minimum requirements: Recognized Mechanical/Electrical Apprenticeship, HNC or ONC, City & Guilds, SVQ/NVQ with relevant experience
The post holder will be a fully trained and certified Specialist Medical Equipment Engineer, providing Mechanical/Electrical/Disinfection/Sterilization services to meet service needs.
Responsibilities include installing, repairing, and maintaining decontamination and building services equipment within NHS GGC Decontamination Department to ensure safe operation and effective decontamination systems. Participation in an on-call rota and ability to travel between NHS sites are required.
These posts are offered as (Annex 21 Training Posts). After successful completion of certification and training, the roles will transition to Band 6 Specialist Medical Equipment Engineer positions. There is potential for direct entry to Band 6 for qualified candidates.
