Job Position: Specialist – Legal Services (Regulatory)

Location: PE/Gqeberha

Salary: R34625 to R57708 per month, commensurate with qualification and experience + benefits (entitled to standard Specialist/Supervisor level company benefits) + relocation cover if applicable

Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the Specialist – Legal Services (Regulatory) position in the Legal Services Department.

Qualifications / Requirements:
  1. Bachelor of Law (LLB)
  2. Admission as an Attorney/Advocate
  3. Minimum of 5 years post-admission experience, including 3 years in commercial law or a related area, and 2 years as a regulatory specialist in the automotive or relevant industry
Essential:
  • Experience in a legal practice is recommended
  • Knowledge of key regulatory legislation affecting the Auto/Manufacturing Industry, such as the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, Protection of Personal Information Act, and Consumer Protection Act
Added advantage:
  • Post-Graduate qualification in regulatory compliance fields
Key Performance Areas:
  1. Provide legal services and advice across various legal fields (excluding Labour Law), including influencing legislation development, managing licensing, regulatory alerts, and internal committees.
  2. Manage legal matters using performance management principles, KPIs, and development plans.
  3. Review and comment on draft legislation.
  4. Maintain a regulatory universe and prepare quarterly reports.
  5. Develop risk management and compliance programs related to key legislation.
  6. Advise and support operational areas to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
  7. Stay updated on legal developments, especially within the motor industry.
  8. Participate in specialist committees, such as the Social and Ethics Committee.
  9. Oversee litigation and dispute resolution processes, coordinating with external legal practitioners.
  10. Protect intellectual property rights of the Group.
  11. Support integrity, risk, and compliance initiatives.
  12. Identify and deliver relevant legal training and support the training department.
  13. Participate in Group legal conferences and advise on dealings with African law firms.
  14. Support Group operations in Africa and collaborate with colleagues and subsidiaries.
  15. Ensure ethical conduct and uphold the company's reputation.
  16. Manage legal records and support regulatory filings and responses.
  17. Coordinate regulatory evaluations, organizational directives, and project development for compliance.
  18. Report on new legislation and cooperate with external auditors.
  19. Review Board presentations for legislative conflicts and organizational compliance.
