Job Summary
Responsible for performing investigations to substantiate money laundering concerns.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data collection and analysis for effective investigation.
- Maintain a client-centric approach.
- Manage and conduct detailed investigations related to Anti-Money Laundering from various sources.
- Ensure investigations comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Gather and scrutinize evidence, making observations and conclusions.
- Assess findings to identify trends and escalate significant issues promptly.
- Ensure high-quality, accurate, and valuable investigation reports.
- Meet investigation timelines aligned with the 90-day SLA and prioritization guidelines.
- Complete investigations referred by stakeholders within set timelines and provide timely feedback.
- Adhere to process guidelines and file reports within SLA, including STR/SAR submissions.
- Make recommendations for investigations, including system, process, or personnel issues.
- Suggest improvements to investigative methodologies and inform management of emerging trends.
Accountability: Reporting and Governance
- Handle requests from internal and external stakeholders as per relevant sections of the FIC Act.
- Analyze alerts to determine the need for suspicious transaction reports.
- Report and escalate AML compliance risks and issues promptly.
- Provide management with regular updates and reports.
- Identify risks, gaps, and emerging trends; recommend mitigation strategies.
Accountability: Stakeholder Management
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand and respond to investigation matters.
- Produce documentation such as position papers and presentation slides for stakeholders.
- Identify risks, trends, and remediation strategies.
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders including regulators and law enforcement.
- Follow escalation procedures and maintain professionalism and ethics in communication.
- Discuss issues with teams and escalate where appropriate.
Preferred Education
- NQF Level 7: Bachelor's Degrees, Advanced Diplomas, or Bachelor of Technology degrees.
- Qualifications in Law, Governance, Risk Management, Investigations, or Compliance preferred.
Preferred Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in AML, Compliance, Investigations, preferably in banking.
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of AML policies and procedures.
- Experience in AML or forensic investigations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Understanding of banking products and services.
- Experience in a multinational, multi-segment environment with matrix reporting.
Education
Bachelor's Degrees and Advanced Diplomas in Law, Military Science, or Security are required.
