Our client is seeking to appoint an experienced and qualified Employee Relations Specialist to join them as an independent contractor. The ideal candidate will provide expert guidance, support and representation in labour-related matters, particularly those requiring CCMA engagement. This is a short-term assignment with a maximum of 16 billable hours per month, over a 6-month period.
Scope of Work
- Provide subject matter expertise to the organisation regarding Employee Relations practices, protocols, data and services.
- Implement collective bargaining and consultative forums, ensuring that they run smoothly and efficiently, within the framework of the Human Capital Business Partner model and the applicable collective agreements.
- Monitor the environment for potential conflicts, acting proactively to prevent conflict.
- Mediate disagreements within the organisation and diffuse disagreements that are impacting on performance.
- Facilitate the speedy resolution of collective grievances, through an effective conciliation and mediation processes.
- Provide effective strive management service by speedily intervening in those which result informal, informal or wildcat strike action.
- Manage disputes to conclusion, ensuring Human Capital Business Partner team is supported; liaise with Compliance, Risk & Legal Services or external legal advisors where necessary.
- Represent the organisation and present cases at the CCMA regarding labour-related matters.
- Provide specialised employee relations services to the Human Capital Business Partners as well as providing front-line labour relations support to line managers and employees.
- Ensure that the Human Capital Business Partners are capacitated to provide labour relations guidance, support and advice on management of grievances, disciplinaries, workshop conflict – management, disputes and incapacity processes.
- Maintain and enforce all related Service Level Agreements to minimise business risk and ensure business continuity.
- Adhere to all relevant laws, policies and standard Operating Procedures throughout the organisation.
- Build and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships for the purpose of expectations management, knowledge sharing and integration, and to manage the organisation’s reputation.
- Represent and participate in the organisation’s committees and tasks teams when required.
- Convene and attend meetings and present relevant information stakeholders when required.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Employee Relations, or Law (proof of qualification required)
- Must be an Admitted Attorney (certificate required)
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in Employee Relations, with proven exposure to CCMA and Labour Court proceedings (detailed CV required clearly stating years of experience)
