Job summary

Vodacom seeks an experienced automation engineer to design, develop, and continuously improve secure automation capabilities across on‑premise infrastructure, private cloud, and public cloud. You will build reusable patterns, templates, and standards to enable safe, self‑service execution with minimal manual intervention.

The role emphasizes infrastructure-as-code, robust governance, and operational resilience, with guidance across teams.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in infrastructure automation, platform engineering, DevOps, or cloud automation.
• Grade 12 is essential; a 3-year bachelor’s degree/diploma is essential.
• Certifications in automation, cloud, DevOps are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Designs and builds enterprise automation and orchestration capabilities for Zero Touch Operations across on-premise, private cloud, and public cloud.
• Creates reusable automation patterns, workflow templates, integration standards, and common services for safe, self-service execution with minimal manual intervention.
• Develops, tests, and maintains infrastructure-as-code, configuration-as-code, and workflow automation that integrates with systems, cloud platforms, APIs, repositories, pipelines, and tools.
• Provides technical guidance, enablement, and escalation support for production automation, including exception handling, access controls, auditability, and resilience.
• Maintains automation documentation, coding standards, runbooks, and knowledge-sharing material to improve adoption and reuse across teams.
