Application Support Specialist
A proudly South African insurance company that offers affordable products and services for life, funeral, savings, and retirement is seeking an Application Support Specialist highly experienced in DevOps, IIS, and .Net.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Application Support and maintenance
2. Provide dedicated support to Sales agents, including supporting and maintaining the applications they use.
3. Support and maintain all other applications 24/7, to ensure stability, systems availability, and performance according to agreed SLA.
4. Support, maintain, and monitor Non-Production and Production Environments.
5. Deploy applications to Non-Production and Production Environments.
6. Maintain software components & ensure reliable deployment of new features.
7. Review input deliverables from Development (RN / DI).
8. Prepare implementation plan and communicate to stakeholders.
9. Ensure application monitoring is in place as well as automated daily health checks.
10. Research new tools, technologies, and best practices.
11. Take ownership of software issues and work with Development Teams to resolve more advanced issues.
12. Support the adoption of Continuous Delivery, Continuous Integration, and Agile best practices.
13. Automation of manual tasks.
14. Proactively perform routine maintenance activities.
15. Perform daily health checks on all applications.
16. Manage pre-implementation and post-implementation testing.
17. Monitor Service Desk queue and manage incidents, requests, and problems experienced with systems.
18. Run production scripts to correct system errors.
19. Provide business support when required (e.g., month-end operational activities).
20. Log Change requests and attend CAB meetings.

Desired Experience & Qualification

1. Education: Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and databases.
2. Knowledge: Configuration management tools and application performance and management tools.
3. Experience Required: Minimum 3-5 years of enterprise software development experience or 2+ years of DevOps experience; IIS .NET technology.
4. 2+ years of experience in Windows-based operating systems.
5. Knowledge and understanding of Agile Methods.
6. Exposure to cloud computing.
7. Experience in implementing and maintaining Application Performance and Monitoring tools.
8. Experience working in an Agile development environment.
9. Insurance background / experience (Advantage).
10. K2 Platform knowledge and experience (Advantage).
11. Previous track record of Sales Support (Advantage).
