ABOUT MAMATWAN

The South Africa Manganese operation is located in the manganese-rich Kalahari Basin, in the Northern Cape, which is home to 80 percent of the world's manganese. This position is based at our open-cut Mamatwan mine, which has been operational for over half a century.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This is a permanent full-time position.

As a Specialist in Analysis and Improvement, you will be responsible for embedding business improvement initiatives and ensuring resources are directed at high-benefit projects. Other key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Participating in plant health, safety, environment, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Analyzing plant processes to optimize production.
  • Identifying and facilitating the implementation of improvement initiatives for functional excellence.
  • Conducting benchmarking to identify opportunities supporting continuous improvement.
  • Supporting LEAN, Continuous Improvement, and the implementation of the South32 Operating Model.
  • Prioritizing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Developing systems to support change initiatives, maintaining simplicity and standardization.

ABOUT YOU:

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in:

  • A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a production plant or process improvement environment.
  • Knowledge of LEAN, RCA, and FMECA methods.
  • Experience in modeling and data analysis of beneficiation plants.
  • Knowledge of mineral processing, sintering, production planning, and management systems.
  • Understanding of mine information systems and proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI, Minitab, SCADA, and fleet management systems.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Grade 12.
  • Degree or BTech in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering.
  • Valid driver’s license.
