Job summary

About the Role

Our client is seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Needs Education Facilitator to join their dedicated team in Paarl, Western Cape . This vital role involves supporting students with diverse learning needs, developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), and collaborating closely with teachers, parents, and specialists. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of various learning disabilities and therapeutic approaches, coupled with a genuine commitment to fostering the development and inclusion of all students. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for flexibility in balancing on-site support with remote planning and collaboration. Contribute to inclusive education in the picturesque region of Paarl .

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct educational support to students with special needs, both individually and in small groups.
• Assist in the development, implementation, and review of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
• Collaborate with class teachers to adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to meet the needs of students.
• Implement specific interventions and therapies as prescribed by specialists.
• Monitor and document student progress, reporting on their development and challenges.
• Support students' social, emotional, and behavioural development within the school environment.
• Work closely with parents and guardians, providing updates and seeking their input.
• Collaborate with external professionals, such as therapists and educational psychologists.
• Assist with classroom management and create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Participate in relevant professional development activities and school meetings.

Requirements

• A relevant qualification in Special Needs Education or a related field (e.g., Diploma in Special Education, B.Ed. with Special Needs specialization).
• Registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working with students with diverse special educational needs.
• Knowledge of various learning disabilities, behavioural challenges, and effective support strategies.
• Experience in developing and implementing IEPs.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
• Patience, empathy, and a strong commitment to inclusive education.
• Proficiency in utilizing assistive technologies and educational aids.
• Must be able to work within a hybrid model and be based in or able to travel to Paarl, Western Cape.
