Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a compassionate Special Needs Childcare Assistant & Support Facilitator in Sandton, Gauteng. You will provide direct care, implement IEPs and therapy plans, and monitor progress while collaborating with therapists, educators, and families in a nurturing setting.

The role emphasizes empathy, patience, and strong communication to support children with autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities, within a multidisciplinary team and a supportive workplace.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Special Education, Psychology, Child and Youth Care, or related field.
• Proven experience with children with diverse special needs (e.g., autism, ADHD, learning disabilities).
• First Aid and CPR certification are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support to children with special needs, addressing physical, emotional, and educational requirements.
• Assist in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) and therapy plans.
• Facilitate structured activities and interventions to promote development, independence, and social interaction.
• Monitor and document children's progress, behaviours, and responses to interventions.
• Collaborate with therapists, educators, and parents to ensure a consistent supportive approach.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating environment suitable for children with special needs.
• Assist with daily living skills, including feeding, hygiene, and mobility as required.
• Communicate effectively with children, families, and the professional team.
