Position Summary

Fives Group is a globally renowned industrial engineering company with operations in more than 30 countries worldwide.

Fives Group designs and supplies machines, process equipment, and production lines for major industries including aluminium, steel, glass, automotive, aerospace, logistics, cement, minerals, energy, and sugar sectors.

Within Fives, the Aluminium business line specializes in designing and supplying process equipment and managing complete installations across the three sectors of the Aluminium industry: Carbon, Reduction, and Casthouse.

Fives provides industrial solutions and services that meet customer needs in terms of performance, quality, and environmental impact.

Primary Purpose

The Spare Parts Manager reports to the Customer Relations Manager and manages 6 subordinates.

The primary role is to define and implement the company's purchasing strategy, oversee supply chain management, and lead sales activities to provide effective supply and services to clients.

This position is integral to growing spare parts revenue and enhancing customer service levels, ultimately contributing to increased turnover and profitability through higher customer satisfaction.

Spare Parts Function
  • Oversee sales for spare parts and develop a process roadmap to meet customer demand.
  • Manage budgeting and forecasting of order intake with supporting plans.
  • Establish and review fixed pricing and framework agreements for spare parts and repairs.
  • Monitor KPIs, address concerns, and implement improvements.
  • Stay informed on market competition and offerings.
  • Oversee order expediting and manage customer relationships with regular updates.
Procurement and Supply Function
  • Manage and monitor the supplier database.
  • Develop suppliers to meet quality, price, lead time, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Source manufacturing suppliers for outsourced work in collaboration with QA/QC.
  • Pre-qualify and approve suppliers, conduct site visits, and ensure proper pricing in SAP.
  • Oversee supply order expediting and assist finance with payment queries.
  • Ensure compliance with BBBEE policies.
Logistics Function
  • Manage transportation of spare parts from overseas suppliers to customers, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Coordinate with agents and customers to expedite deliveries and prevent delays.
  • Monitor incoterms and adhere to transport budgets.
General Duties
  • Maintain departmental procedures and support team goals.
  • Ensure timely submission of reports to customers and management.
Education and Experience
  • Tertiary qualification (minimum N.Dip.) in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering, with sales and customer management experience.
  • Business-related qualifications (Diploma/Degree) with experience in technical/engineering sales are advantageous.
  • Strong leadership skills and at least 5 years' experience in business development, customer management, procurement, or sales.
  • Supply chain or warehouse management experience is beneficial.
  • Understanding of contract law and pricing, analytical skills, SAP knowledge, and familiarity with aluminium smelters or heavy industry equipment are advantageous.
