An established industry player is seeking a talented Interior Designer to lead innovative space planning and design projects. This role involves collaborating with clients to understand their needs, creating detailed designs, and ensuring compliance with building codes. Responsible for space planning, space design, and furniture reconfiguration services according to the Workplace Strategy, including needs analyses with clients.
Confer with Divisional Head and Senior Interior Designer to determine factors affecting interior environment planning, such as budget, architectural preferences, purpose, and function.
Advise on interior factors including space planning, layout, furnishings, equipment, and color coordination.
Coordinate with professionals like contractors, architects, and engineers to ensure project success.
Manage initial project finances, including timesheets and monthly claim certificates.
Calculate space allotment based on employee numbers.
Before interior design, develop optional and alternative workspace solutions or modifications.
Familiarize with building codes to ensure regulatory compliance before project commencement.
Manage decanting processes to minimize business disruption during office moves.
Formulate Designs
Create detailed shop drawings for construction layouts.
Estimate material requirements and costs, and present designs for approval.
Coordinate subcontractor fabrication and installation of fixtures, furnishings, and accessories.
Render design ideas through sketches or drawings
Use CAD or Revit software to produce construction documents.
Design interior environments for various spaces including offices and commercial buildings.
Measure room dimensions for furniture and fixture placement.
Work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Assist with drafting tender proposals.
Provide high-level client service
Build and maintain effective relationships at all organizational levels.
Stay updated on space planning and interior design methodologies.
Note that additional tasks may be assigned as needed, and procedures may be amended by management.
Qualifications & Experience
Grade 12 qualification.
BA in Interior Design, Architecture, or equivalent.
Minimum 6 years' experience in office or workplace space planning.
Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project.
Registered with SACAP.
Knowledge of space planning, building codes, and project management principles.
Understanding of Quantity Surveying and Cost Management.
Valid driver’s license (Code 8).
