Qualifications

Job description

Join Sungrow MENA & Central Asia as a South Africa Technical / Field Service Engineer (PV Utility & BESS).

Provide on-site and remote commissioning of BESS systems, PCS, and PV inverters. Deliver technical support to customers effectively and on time, including troubleshooting and testing of solar inverters on-site.

Lead or assist with project support, coordinate with R&D engineering in China if needed, and provide detailed service reports during and after site visits.

Monitor electrical equipment performance, provide customer feedback, and manage service case tickets. Take ownership of customer issues and ensure resolution with HQ support. Order and restock materials as required.

Participate in ongoing training to stay updated with the latest developments. Provide clear feedback to customers and managers.

Requirements include 3-5 years’ experience in the PV or BESS renewable industry, troubleshooting or commissioning experience with commercial and utility-scale BESS and PV inverters, and proficiency with test equipment and hand tools. Strong customer service, problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills are essential.

Must be willing to provide services locally and across other African countries. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electrical safety standards (OSHA, NSPA70A) is required.

Educational qualifications include a Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution. Additional certifications like First aid, Firefighting, ORHVS, ECSA registration, and renewable energy training are advantageous.

This is a full-time, mid-senior level position based in Gauteng, South Africa, with opportunities to work in other African countries.
