Position Statement
As Sous Chef, you will be responsible for:
- Assisting the Head Chef in managing and motivating team members through effective communication, training, and development in accordance with company policies and relevant employment legislation, ensuring HR procedures are followed.
- Assisting with budgets, implementing mechanisms to manage costs effectively, and ensuring the profitable performance of the kitchen.
- Supporting the Head Chef in stock management, ordering, and proactive resolution of related issues.
- Ensuring all kitchen team members receive appropriate training, coaching, and development for effective service.
- Maintaining effective communication and relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensuring kitchen areas, fixtures, and equipment are maintained to high standards.
- Maintaining security of kitchen and storage areas at all times.
- Upholding health, safety, fire, hygiene, and security legislation to ensure a safe environment.
- Continuously developing industry knowledge and competitor activity to contribute to future planning and market position.
- Assisting with recruitment, selection, and optimal utilization of kitchen staff based on business needs.
- Contributing to the development of the hotel’s business plan and initiatives to enhance market position.
Candidate Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years relevant experience as a Senior or Sous Chef.
- Strong people management and leadership skills.
- Dynamic, innovative, passionate, and resilient leadership qualities.
- High standards of food hygiene, environmental health, safety, and HACCP legislation knowledge.
- Attention to quality and speed of service.
- Ability to work under pressure within a team.
- IT literacy with experience managing rotas.
- Previous experience as a Senior Chef in a hotel environment.
