Job summary

Anglo American invites applications for a Sourcing & Contracts Advisor within its Supply Chain team. The role focuses on sourcing and contracting regional contracts in a centrally managed framework to secure supply and optimize supplier performance and value across the portfolio.

The position reports to the Section Manager Sourcing & Contracts and requires 3–5 years in a supply chain environment, with expertise in sourcing, contracting, and supplier relationship management, based in Rosebank,

Qualifications

• Grade 12/N3 Technical.
• National Diploma in Supply Chain/Procurement or equivalent on NQF6.
• Bachelor's degree level or equivalent on NQF7 is preferred.
• SA Drivers Licence: Code B (Light Vehicle).
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in a supply chain environment with a comprehensive understanding of the value chain.
• Expertise in Sourcing and Contracting.

Responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity forSourcing & Contracts Advisor. The purpose of this role is source and contract regional and business contracts in a commoditised and centrally managed manner, to ensure security of supply and optimise supplier performance and value in the allocated portfolio.

Job Description

As Sourcing & Contracts Advisor your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Safety, Health, and Environment:

• Identify ways to support specific safety, health and sustainability opportunities and risks and include these in enquiries and contractual documentation relating to the allocated portfolio.
• Incorporate Contractor Performance Management requirements in contracts to ensure that Suppliers meet delivery expectations in a way that reduces safety-related incidents.

General:

• Implement the relevant Supply Chain strategy and ensure that critical tasks, performance targets, plans and budgets are adhered to with due consideration of risk identification.
• Embrace an agile Supply Chain by being adaptive and flexible to accommodate and focus on emerging and changing business priorities.

Commercial Value Delivery and Supplier Partnering:

• Understand regional strategic priorities and develop relevant Sourcing and Contracting strategies to support business needs.
• Implement value creation and supplier engagement strategies that align with the global Supply Chain strategy, critical tasks, performance targets and business priorities.
• Manage relationships with strategic suppliers to drive step change in value and deliver innovative solutions that position Anglo American as a partner of choice.
• Optimise value through innovation, risk mitigation and growth throughout the relationship life cycle.
• Participate in negotiations for regional contracts and drive a step change in commercial deals.

Planning:

• Deliver planning and scheduling for regional, business and corporate routine, tactical, sourcing, and contracts activities.
• Identify, enable and track value and inclusive procurement opportunities, commercial initiatives and specific resource requirements.
• Track and monitor progress against sourcing and contracts targets.
• Provide input into the relevant budget and resource requirements.

Sourcing and Contracts Management:

• Identify, enable and track VP and Inclusive Procurement opportunities.
• Plan and track relevant commercial initiatives and ensure adequate resource requirements.
• Provide effective and efficient sourcing and contracting activities in a timely and value-driven manner for corporate, regional, or business contracts.
• Provide proactive visibility and continuous improvement of the sourcing and contracts pipeline related to the allocated portfolio.
• Implement value opportunities, assist with resolving risks, and identify risk mitigation solutions for the portfolio.
• Ensure cross-collaboration between internal and external stakeholders.

Commercial Agreements:

• Implement the sourcing Value Delivery Plans for tactical and routine corporate/regional/business contracts in an allocated portfolio in an accurate, timely and value-driven manner.
• Implement the deployment of Inclusive procurement initiatives in an allocated portfolio.
• Implement value opportunities and mitigate the risk of the portfolio.
• Ensure cross-collaboration between internal and external stakeholders.

Inclusive Procurement:

• Understand community-specific needs and identify value creation opportunities to address these.
• Drive a culture of community development and inclusive procurement with stakeholders aligned with the global and regional Inclusive Procurement strategies.
• Implement an Inclusive Procurement programme that will increase host community commercial participation and support the development of thriving communities.
• Embed clear Inclusive Procurement expectations, targets and initiatives in commercial agreements and manage the delivery thereof.
• Support the global Inclusive Procurement team in identifying supplier development needs and opportunities and supporting the development of solutions.

Sustainability and Social

• Develop and maintain relationships with existing suppliers and new partners within the supply market.
• Manage relationships with suppliers to drive step change in value and deliver innovative solutions.
• Provide support on supplier performance management of select suppliers and address escalated issues.

Operational Excellence and AOP Support:

• Investigate digitisation opportunities with suppliers, develop compelling business cases and collaborate with stakeholders for potential implementation.
• Support Supply Chain Managers and Company Representatives in implementing and operationalising active contracts and continuing contractor management.

People and Teams:

• Embrace a Supply Chain team culture of diversity and inclusiveness.
• Support team’s adherence to planned timeframes on contracts and/or modifications of sourcing activities.
• Support cross-functional team interactions with internal stakeholders to execute category management activities.

Governance and Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with internal Anglo American and Supply Chain Governance requirements for all team members and all Sourcing and contracting activities.
• Ensure compliance with applicable legislative requirements on all Sourcing and Contracting activities.
• Regular, timely and accurate reporting of all portfolio activities.

This role is in Supply Chain (SC) on a Band 6 (D-Lower) level reporting to the Section Manager Sourcing & Contracts.

Technical Knowledge

• 3-5 years of relevant experience in a supply chain environment with a comprehensive understanding of the value chain.

• Knowledge of integrating commercial, PSC, supplier management, and purchasing sub-disciplines.
• Awareness of Safety and Sustainability concerning Supply Chain and Inclusive Procurement.
• In-depth knowledge of commercial and business case development.
• Understanding of negotiation principles.
• Insight into Supplier Relationship Management.
• Proficiency in critical and systems thinking.
