Solutions Engineer (SaaS, Data & Workflow Automation)
Location: Remote (South Africa, Johannesburg preferred)
Salary: Up to R38,000 p.m. (plus 3-month review, annual January increases, and performance bonuses)
Hardware: MacBook Pro provided
Why this role beats traditional data or setup work
If you have 2 to 4 years of experience in data analysis, process implementation, or business analysis, you might feel stuck building static reports or running repetitive software setups. This role moves you into international SaaS engineering where you design, automate, and secure complete operational ecosystems.
We're working with a UK-based, South African. owned monday.com partner to help them grow their Solution. Engineering team. You do not need prior experience with monday.com. You will receive 3 months of paid, structured onboarding to master the platform stack. 20% of your work week (one full day every week) is permanently set aside for up-skilling, certifications, and learning.
- Clear progression path: Enter as a Solutions Engineer with a direct route to Senior Solutions Engineer and Solution Architect.
- Expanded technical scope: Move beyond basic boards into high-density data modelling, PowerQuery logic, workflow automation, and data protection.
- Global exposure: Work directly with UK and European businesses, building high-value skills across the modern SaaS stack.
- Balanced work schedule: Fully remote setup. Builds happen during South African working hours, with flexibility to structure your day around UK client meeting overlaps.
- Financial growth: Starting salary up to R38,000 p.m., guaranteed annual reviews every January, a salary review after 3 months, and performance bonuses.
What you will actually do
You will bridge the gap between heavy client data, business logic, and automated software workflows.
- Run discovery sessions with UK and European clients to understand their data structures, process bottlenecks, and operational needs.
- Use PowerQuery and advanced Excel logic to clean, structure, and transform dense client data into streamlined digital workflows.
- Design and configure automated systems using platforms like monday.com, Make, and Aircall.
- Ensure data protection standards and access rules are applied to client solutions (GDPR awareness is a plus).
- Train client teams using Loom video walkthroughs and live interactive sessions.
- Document system designs and upload technical insights into the internal knowledge base.
Who fits this role
We are looking for junior to intermediate professionals with strong analytical capabilities. We do not want heavy software developers who over-engineer simple logic. We want practical problem solvers who understand how data flows through a business.
- Experience: 2 to 4 years in data analysis, process implementation, financial modelling, or business analysis. BCom, Commerce, or Statistics degrees are well-suited.
- Data & Logic Skills: Practical experience with PowerQuery, advanced Excel modelling, or handling dense datasets.
- Systems Exposure: Familiarity with any CRM, ERP, relational database logic, or tools like Airtable and ClickUp.
- Information Security: Understanding of basic data protection, access controls, and data hygiene. GDPR familiarity is beneficial but not required.
- Communication: Clear, confident spoken and written English for international client interactions.
- Attitude: High ownership and zero ego. You take accountability when things break and share credit when projects succeed.
The hiring process
- Technical Interview & Case Study: A practical 2-hour take-home exercise evaluating your logic, prioritisation, and data handling. Use of AI tools is encouraged because the client will want to talk through and evaluate your reasoning and how you used AI to advance your solution.
