12 month contract
About the role :
We're looking for a pragmatic and hands-on Solution Architect to lead critical projects within a leading insurance environment. As an architect, you will own end-to-end technical solutions, act as the technical lead from inception to delivery, and collaborate closely with different stakeholders and teams while considering transition plans and technical coaching for the teams you work with. You will be the driver between business partners and technical teams, helping to clearly articulate problems and solutions, and enable a culture of collaboration. In this role, you will wear many hats, from end-to-end projects where the focus can range from integration and implementation to knowing when to build and when to buy.
Key responsibilities :
- Act as the technical lead across 2 - 3 projects.
- Develop practical implementation architectures (not just perfect-world blueprints) for immediate needs, with transition plans for cloud-migration where applicable.
- Own the solution delivery alongside the project manager.
- Support and guide development teams through architectural oversight and technical coaching (Design patterns, libraries, and frameworks).
- Engage with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Provide architectural governance and conduct technical reviews for smaller BAU-type projects.
- Support both on-premise and AWS cloud transition planning.
- Handle integration-heavy projects.
- Work with Devs, Dev Leads, Testers, PMs, BAs, and UX / UI teams to ensure architectural alignment.
What you bring to the table :
- 7+ years of software solution architecture experience.
- Hands-on experience in SDLC (especially Microsoft / .NET-heavy environments).
- Strong grasp of integration architecture, API strategy, and defining transitional designs.
- Able to engage with developers on design patterns, frameworks, and best practices.
- Comfortable guiding AWS cloud-native architecture discussions.
- Strong communicator able to interface with both business and technical teams.
- Logical thinker with proven experience in breaking down complex problems into practical architectural roadmaps.
Tech Environment :
- 70% Microsoft (.NET) stack
- 30% Java / Postgres / Oracle / MySQL / Other
- AWS cloud (existing and target)
- Emphasis on API integration, off-the-shelf platforms, and pragmatic implementation
- Strong preference for buying solutions and integrating them instead of building.
The Nice to haves :
- Insurance or financial services experience
- Experience in claims, policy admin, or commission / payment system
Whats in it for you :
- An environment that values innovation and ownership
- Exposure to key projects that shape the future of the organization
- Competitive rates
- A supportive team and down-to-earth culture
