Job Purpose

The Solution Sales Manager IBS is responsible for implementing effective sales strategies to grow the business in the targeted region. The role involves developing sales strategies for accounts, analyzing and qualifying prospects and leads with both government and private sector clients for the entire IBS product portfolio, with a focus on ID management solutions, Automatic Border Control, and Public Safety Solutions.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage sales of all products, services, and solutions in South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Identify new opportunities and position Thales as a key partner and supplier.
  • Develop and implement strategic account plans, including local approaches and global marketing strategies.
  • Coordinate tender responses with the Bid Management team.
  • Build high-level strategic relationships with government entities.
  • Collaborate with internal resources to understand customer needs and allocate appropriate support.
  • Interface with DGDI / AMEWA organizations.
  • Ensure relevant market information is communicated internally.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Telecommunication, or relevant field; Master's in Business Administration is a plus.
  • Proven track record as a Solution Sales Manager, Key Account Manager, or similar in complex, long sales cycle environments.
  • Experience managing African customers in IT, Telecom, banking, or government sectors; living experience in Africa is preferred.
Skills
  • Expertise in complex solution selling and understanding customer needs.
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts simultaneously with attention to detail.
  • Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at all organizational levels, including C-level.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well-organized, proactive, and self-driven.
  • Proficiency in English is mandatory, especially for East Africa clients.
  • Willingness to travel 50% or more.
