Job summary

A renewable energy company in Gauteng seeks a Solar QC Inspector. This role involves inspecting and verifying the quality of solar PV installations, from mounting to electrical connections. Candidates should have experience in solar installations and a relevant qualification. The salary range is R 400 000 - R 450 000 annually, and the position requires travel to project sites.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Renewable Energy.
• 2–5 years of experience in solar PV installations or quality inspection.
• Strong knowledge of SANS 10142, IEC 62446, and industry safety standards.
• Competency in reading and interpreting solar designs, technical drawings, and schematics.
• Familiarity with tools like multimeters, torque wrenches, insulation testers, etc.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites.
• PV GreenCard or relevant SAPVIA certification.
• Experience in both C&I and utility-scale solar projects.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and working within a QMS framework.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and verify the quality of solar PV installations.
• Monitor fabrication and assembly of structural components.
• Perform field inspections on DC/AC wiring, inverters, junction boxes, and combiner panels.
• Conduct system tests in line with IEC and SANS standards.
• Identify and report non-conformances and assist with corrective actions.
• Ensure documentation is complete and accurate for client handover.

• Inspect and verify the quality of solar PV installations — from mounting systems to electrical connections.

• Identify and report non-conformances and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
