Job description

Our client in Pretoria is seeking a Solar Installation Supervisor to join their team. The ideal candidate will be a qualified electrician or have at least 5 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong background in both AC and DC installations. You should be proficient in installing and wiring cable trays and DB boards, with the ability to follow engineering drawings and install systems to specifications. Strong organizational and planning skills, along with effective communication and team leadership abilities, are essential for success in this role. REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Qualified electrician or 5 years’ experience in similar role
  2. Experience with AC installation
  3. Proficient in DC installations
  4. Able to install and wire cable trays and DB boards as needed
  5. Ability to follow engineering drawings and install systems to specifications
  6. Organizational and planning skills
  7. Strong team leadership abilities
  8. Effective communication skills

DUTIES:

Project Leadership:
  1. Lead the installation of Solar PV projects according to the provided design.
  2. Enforce applicable HR codes and company policies and procedures, with a strong emphasis on quality and safety.
  3. Follow engineering drawings and install systems to specifications.

Learning and Development:
  1. Learn the company's standards within the 3-month probation period.
  2. Understand the workflow and standards of project sites within 6 months.
  3. Be capable of running a full site within 12 months of starting with the company.

Installation Tasks:
  1. Install AC and DC components, cable trays, and DB boards.
  2. Wire and configure DB boards as necessary.

Documentation:
  1. Complete post-project documentation, including DC quality checklists, in-progress and final photos, and labelling.
  2. Document installation progress, such as wire management, serial numbers, and site map.
  3. Fill out daily progress reports and make them available online for the Project Manager, including expense reports and living out allowance reports.

Team Management:
  1. Set the tone for the team, inspiring them to exceed goals and expectations.
  2. Develop a positive working dynamic within installation crews.
  3. Check on the progress of installers regularly to ensure the installation process is being performed as per engineering pack and construction timelines.

Resource Management:
  1. Ensure that there are adequate materials and equipment to safely and efficiently complete projects.
  2. Maintain and inspect test equipment, including periodic calibration checks.
  3. Be responsible for all equipment issued by the company.

Communication and Feedback:
  1. Maintain excellent lines of communication.
  2. Provide constructive feedback to management.
  3. Report accurately worked hours and stand down and communicate to the HR manager.
  4. Ensure accuracy of your own as well as your team’s timesheets.
