Job description

As a rapidly growing forward-thinking solar energy company, NEOSUN Energy is extending its Engineering & Construction team in South Africa and seeking an experienced Solar EPC Project Manager to oversee the development and execution of large-scale solar energy projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the project lifecycle, from engineering design to procurement, construction, and final commissioning. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards.

Area of Responsibility:

  1. Project Planning & Execution:
    Lead the planning, design, procurement, and construction phases of solar energy projects, ensuring alignment with project timelines, budgets, and technical specifications.
  2. Team Leadership:
    Manage a multidisciplinary project team, including engineers, procurement staff, construction workers, and subcontractors, ensuring effective collaboration and timely delivery.
  3. Procurement Management:
    Oversee the procurement process for materials, equipment, and services, ensuring that all materials meet the technical and quality standards required for the project.
  4. Budget & Cost Control:
    Develop and manage the project budget, track expenditures, and identify opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining quality and safety.
  5. Project Scheduling:
    Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, monitor progress, and adjust plans as necessary to mitigate any potential delays.
  6. Risk Management:
    Identify potential risks, both technical and logistical, and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions.
  7. Stakeholder Communication:
    Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies. Provide regular project updates, ensuring transparency and addressing any concerns or requirements promptly.
  8. Quality & Safety Assurance:
    Ensure that the project adheres to industry best practices, regulatory standards, and internal quality and safety protocols to guarantee safe and efficient construction and operations.
  9. Documentation & Reporting:
    Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, change orders, project status reports, and all relevant communications, ensuring compliance and audit readiness.
  10. Commissioning & Handover:
    Oversee the commissioning of the solar project, ensuring successful integration, system testing, and final handover to clients or operators.

Qualifications:

Education: Master degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in solar project management, with at least 3 years in an EPC role.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, electrical engineering, and construction processes.
Certifications: PV Green Card, Electrical Engineering Certificate.

Skills:
Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project or any other Project Management systems).
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

Working Conditions:
Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
